Information for Editors and Publishers

Size of Column:

The column, Neighborly Advice According to Ed, is an average length of 550 words. If an editor desires, the column can be sent with a specific number of words ranging between a minimum of 450 and maximum of 650.

 

Cost of Column:

Editors may publish the column without charge for six months. After six months, the cost to newspapers goes by circulation:

  • A circulation of 2,000 or less         =  $2.50 per week.
  • A circulation of 2,000 – 4,000      =  $3.00 per week
  • A circulation of 4,000 – 6,000      =  $4.00 per week
  • A circulation of 6,000 – 8,000      =  $5.00 per week
  • A circulation of 8,000 or more     =   $6.00 per week

* Please note that rates are negotiable, especially upward. Payment for articles is due at the end of each month.


Frequency of Publication:

The column is written and sent to editors on a weekly basis. Usually, editors receive a new column by email every Monday morning. Any columns not published are to be destroyed or returned to the columnist within fourteen days.
